“Giving up the Keys” The Irish Connection Home Health Care Service!

# By Marian Deady: Studies show senior citizens driving have the highest fatality rate in car accidents. In part, because of the severity of the crashes, but also because frailty that comes from age makes it more difficult to recover from physical trauma of a car accident.  How to tell your elderly Mom, Dad, Grandparent or loved one they can no longer drive their car, taking someone’s car keys away is not an easy thing to do. It is important to give some thought to the emotional and practical issues an elderly person has to face when they are told they have to give up driving. Giving up driving and having no other way of getting around is devastating to an elderly person who has been independent all their life. Sometimes talking to your loved ones doctor and letting them know your concerns over their driving. Schedule a routine physical exam for the person and let the doctor determine based on basic tests if the person can drive safely or not. This approach is an easier way to take someone’s car keys away. This separates you from making that decision and will keep the person from blaming you for taking their car away. It’s important to set up some form of transport so that your loved one can get out to their appointments, outings, hairdresser, shopping etc. Home Health Care Agencies can help” they can send someone out to the house that will drive your loved one to their appointment, shopping etc.

Hello this is kind of of off topic but I was wanting to know if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have
to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a
blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
